Lets Imagine!!!!!

Lets Imagine!!!!! We are living in a unique time, right now!

Yes, we are being forced to stay safe and stay in our homes but the one thing that only a few people are talking about is the effect that this global shut down is doing for Mother Earth.

Let’s imagine a future where electric vehicles have become the mainstream, where factories run on renewable energy either generated by the sun and the solar panels, whether by wind from the fresh sea breezes, or the oceans where wave power is crashing up against the shore.

Let’s imagine all this energy is being stored in large battery facilities, in Hydro electrical dams’ and many other new and innovative ways.

Let’s imagine that our daily commute to work is from our bedroom to our living room where we hold meetings and spend many hours working from a distance but are just as productive if not more so.

Let’s imagine playing sports through virtual reality with spectators and crowds cheering from the side lines, being proud of your favorite avatar as they kick a goal, shoot a basket or score a goal.

Let’s imagine that as you look out over the city you see crystal clear skies with the clouds all white and fluffy and the sky crystal blue, shining upon you with the warmth of the sun and a fresh sea breeze blowing across your face or you take a deep breath and can only smell the pine needles of the forest trees swaying in the breeze.

Let’s Imagine that you are sitting in your back yard and the trees around you are lush and green and full of birds and critters. A squirrel runs down the trunk and gathers the acorns up and runs away into the lush grass towards a new tree.

As you look up past the tree you see geese flying high in formation and all you hear are the flapping of the wings as they pass by.

We are, right now living that dream. We may have a virus out there, but the knock on effect of not using all the fossil fuel related machinery and Co2 producing machines is a beautiful world that allows us to see how the things could be if we embraced the renewables future that is there for the taking.

Since we as a global community have stopped, the earth has started to recover that which it was losing very quickly. Dolphins have come back to the canals of the recently clear waters of Venice. Birds have flocked back to beaches. Air is clearer than it has ever been.

Los Angeles city can be seen from the mountains and conversely the mountains can be seen from the city. With no smog the sky becomes clear. In China the levels of emissions dropped so dramatically it was noticed by satellite monitoring tools. The air cleared up and the city and all its beauty could be seen.

We have an opportunity before us. We need to learn from the current situation and see the future that is possible. Clean air and better breathable quality of air.

Cleaner water for us and the creatures of the world to share. Vehicles that do not pollute. Factories that do not pollute. A world that is clean, fresh and gives us hope.

Look outside and savor the beauty of the world around you in this unique time and know that this is possible if we are courageous enough to do what we believe is the best for the amazing planet we live in and not take it for granted.

Let’s grow, lets learn and let’s be part of the change that we and this world desperately needs, together we can achieve a future that looks better than where we are today.

Let’s imagine.

It is a tough time for all and instead of a Blog this week I wanted to share the love.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far through my journey.

It is wonderful to know that there are those out there that enjoy talking about electric vehicles as much as i do. I am a Tesla fan boy but i love the entire community of EV fans. It is wonderful to know that you enjoy my simple contribution to the EV community.

Look after each other, share your stories and your passion for the things you love and make sure that you continue to smile. This will help in the weeks and months to come.

Stay safe, stay strong and keep adding to the community .

The Model Y……… vs ………. global pandemic

Courtesy of Tesla

12 months ago, Elon musk introduced the Model Y to the world. It was a subtle introdcution to the world. Some have said that the model Y reveal was a less impressive introduction of any Tesla before and after. The question is why? Could it be due to the similarities with Model 3 taking 75% of the parts that the Model 3 has? Maybe, but I think there may be a greater theory.

SUV market is huge globally and as such Tesla understands, to compete you have to be part of the field. How do you do this easily and ahead of time? You use what you have already designed and make it incrementally better.

So, the Model Y is born.

Since then we have had little insight into the vehicle or its timeline until Tesla announced that deliveries would start in March. Today is the 14th March and the first deliveries have already started according to recent reports.

You tube, Twitter, Facebook and many more social media accounts are all a fluster over the model Y. Any Tesla fan would be anxious to see the new car on the road because the rumors are suggesting that this will be the best-selling vehicle from Tesla yet.

One thing that had not been anticipated by anyone was the outbreak of a modern Pandemic that is impacting global population, markets, companies and above all else production of things.

This pandemic is real, not a myth and not to be underestimated. There is going to be impact. I have a health background and know the impact this disease can do, and I also know that what China did with Social distancing is going to be the only way forward until we find a treatment.

The impact that is yet to be realized is the impact to production. If Model Y is a shining light at the beginning of the year 2020 for Tesla and yet they are about to find it difficult to meet expectation due to unforeseen circumstances.

Will it sell like expected? Will it continue to wow the general public when they are closed behind self-imposed and then governmental restrictions to move. In the short term I think deliveries will slow and the world will possibly take time to reflect on the important things in life.

Hopefully they will realize that the world needs change to be able to survive and enjoy the best of life. They will also realize that if they are confined to home that there are a lot of people online who want to share their story about amazing cars called Tesla’s and hopefully, they will think they are amazing and wants to buy one. So, they will order online. Here’s Hoping.

Tesla will survive and the Model Y will thrive and grow and become the juggernaut that everyone thinks it should be. The pandemic will recede, and a vaccine will be developed, and the world will move forward with sadness and sorrow. It will be looking for ways to make the sunshine brighter and the people smile larger than before the pandemic occurred.

Let’s hope Tesla and Model Y help to heal the damage.

The Model Y is made for Australia

Australia is a beautiful country with golden sand beaches, red rock deserts, amazing green lush fields (now it has rained) and wonderful people. This country has been a beacon to travellers over the years and as part of that they have had to travel great distance to get to the amazing sites.

The great barrier reef is over 2000 kms from Sydney where the Harbour bridge and Sydney Opera House reside. Most travelers will fly but a large number decide to hire, buy a car and drive the thousands of kilometers seeing the real Australia on the way.

This experience could be enhanced by the use of the Model Y. The electric highway that runs the length of the east coast gives rise to the possibility that the Electric revolution is coming. Travelers can take advantage of this capability and the Model Y could be the car to help that along.

When travelling, people will have luggage and the Model Y has a large hatch back boot that would allow for great amounts of cargo carrying. It also contains a frunk with more storage for a good esky(cooler) to keep snacks, drinks and picnic lunch to enjoy on the way. The model Y allows for 7 seats allowing more friends and family to travel together and enjoy the scenery.

Australia is a beautiful country with wonderful wildlife that does not exist anywhere else in the world. To see these unique creatures is difficult as most vehicles scare them away. The electric vehicle like Model Y are very quiet and have a greater chance of seeing these wonderful creatures up close. The Model Y has large amounts of visual pleasures with the large panoramic roof that frames the landscape and the wildlife in unforgettable vistas.

The use of the Model Y makes complete sense in Australia. We are a country who drive and love SUV’s. These cars have become the car of choice for a large amount of the population. The introduction of the model Y improves the choice that people can make when deciding to purchase their next car. With many reports suggesting that people will consider an electric vehicle as their next vehicle it is important that Australian have a choice that meets all their current criteria whilst addressing the current imperatives that need to change to assist the environment to return to health.

Australians are big believers in the environment as we know we live in a beautiful country. To keep it this way we are realistic that we need to change our habits to allow our country to remain the wonderland that it is.

The Model Y is built for Australia and is the most compelling vehicle coming to our shores.

I, one day, would love to own a Tesla and model Y might just meet my needs.

Steve is to Elon………….. like Apple is too Tesla………..

I came across an article this week from Lisa Eadicicco (Feb28,2020,10:40am) from Business Insider writing about Steve Jobs. Steve’s widow Laurene Powell Jobs was discussing a specific quote he had said once, and how people had interpreted it different ways over the years.

The quote read;

“At Apple, people are putting in 18-hour days. We attract a different type of person — a person who doesn’t want to wait five or 10 years to have someone take a giant risk on him or her. Someone who really wants to get in a little over his head and make a dent in the universe. We are aware that we are doing something significant. We’re here at the beginning of it and we’re able to shape how it goes. Everyone here has the sense that right now is one of those moments when we are influencing the future.”

Steve Jobs 1985

Laurene went on to say that he meant “we are able, each of us, to manipulate the circumstances”.

I have long been an admirer of Steve Jobs and have consumed a lot of information regarding him. This quote gives great insights to the mind of what Apple was trying to achieve in the early 80’s. In understanding the quote and Lauren’s interpretation of what he meant I was instantly drawn to how the correlation between at the time what Apple was doing and the work that has and continues to occur at Tesla today.

The quote initial sentence of the quote highlighted that people worked for 18 hours a day. Obviously at the time Apple was trying to find its feet and work through challenges. Tesla has also had to find its feet as it has been challenged in the past when electric vehicles were frowned upon and most recently with the model 3 ramp. Tesla employees and Elon Musk himself worked many days with little sleep and long hours to find solutions to problems. This commitment continues to align with the next sentence when referring to the attraction of a different type of person, looking for a unique opportunity to demonstrate their unique skills set and to take a risk on them.

Elon has always shown he looks for the best of people. Not necessarily the smartest but the best. Problem solvers, passionate about the mission. People who see the world in a different way. People who truly want to make a dent in the universe.

To truly make a dent the people who are hired, as the quote also suggests, need to be aware that what they are doing is something unlike anything anyone has done before, “something significant”.

Tesla employees have known since the time they have driven in a Tesla, used the Powerwall during a storm when a blackout occurred or had a solar roof fitted to their home that Tesla is unusual, passionate and truly living up to its mission.

The beginning of something revolutionary is seldom understood until after the time has gone, yet the correlation between what Steve Jobs said and what tesla are doing today would suggest that Tesla new this would be revolutionary as long as the pieces of the puzzle where stitched together. Tesla has delivered on their vision and they continue to be at the forefront of revolutionary steps to changing the face of the transportation industry and delivering on their technologies and mission to transition the world to sustainable energy.

The quote by Steve Jobs, which he was said back in 1985 perfectly shows the exact ethos that Tesla now demonstrates. The words could just as easily have been said by Elon Musk himself.

In recent years I have come to believe that following your passion, believing in a mission, and taking some risks can improve the world in which we live. Furthermore, by working to achieve your dreams can give anyone the opportunity to “Make a dent in the universe”.

Steve jobs and Elon Musk are two people who have proven themselves to be visionaries. They have started from very little, expressed great dreams and strived to meet those dreams head on. Both have delivered and helped to revolutionize many areas of our daily lives.

To make a dent in the universe it is important to remember one final thing. Whilst making your vision a reality it is important to always consider the people who helped make the dream real. This and only this will make the quote of Steve Jobs truly something worth fighting for so we can all manipulate the circumstances and achieve our dreams.
